A closer look at furniture, proportion and everyday comfort in the guest rooms at The StandardX, Melbourne.
The StandardX brings the character of Fitzroy into a contemporary neighbourhood hotel. Hecker Guthrie worked with the Standard team on an interior approach that connects the brand’s identity with its Melbourne setting.
In the guest room shown here, an upholstered headboard, compact seating and a slim ledge sit beneath an exposed ceiling and softly filtered daylight. The furniture gives the room definition while keeping the arrangement open. A contrasting stool adds colour among the quieter elements around it.
The project forms part of Workshop’s work with architects and interior designers across hotels and hospitality. Furniture and the wider interior need to work together, with scale, position and finish considered as part of the guest experience.
